Mail order

Sales are now getting stronger with our last market day a real hit. I also had an email order from a lady who wanted a goat and 2 sheep for her bridesmaids on her wedding day. I parcelled them all up including a wedding gift of a lamb and two arrived in pieces. I was really concerned that they were too fragile to move into on line shopping. So I looked up google to see how to send ceramic pieces.......why did I not do this in the first place?....... And they arrived safely. SO the secret is those s shaped polystyrene pieces in a big box with my sheep in bubble wrap floating in the middle!.....Anyone know any good supplier of s shaped polystyrene pieces?
Still have not got my web page up and running but on the case and will do so in a few days.
Busy making sheep and goats, lambs and kids for the present buying season which will be starting soon.

Thursday 12 August 2010

Let me introduce my sheepies... on the left is the most popular size with a scarf knit from unbleached sheep wool. The two smaller ones are lambs which are popular in these recessionary times and again have scarves. For a while I have been giving them all individual names so I would be interested in any feedback about this or indeed any other aspect of my work.....be honest I can take it!

Still the beginning

Since my first blog I have been making more sheepies and now goaties. I have also teamed up with my friend to run a market stall on the second saturday in each month in Coleraine, Northern Ireland between 10am and 2.30pm. Its called the causeway local food and craft market and well worth a visit. For those not familiar with this part of the world it is really beautiful, not far from the longest beach in Ireland ( Benone/Magilligan). Close to lots of National trust properties ( Mussenden temple/ Portstewart strand/ Giants causeway) and good accomodation and restaurants.
The market stall is going slowly but we are covering our costs, I'm using it as market testing and have been flattered to discover a lady who collects my sheepies....Still can't believe that.
Now the family hols are over and the weather today is not good I am devoting a few days to getting my web page up and going.

The Beginning

Have just taken the plunge to set up my blog and register a domain name. This now places me firmly in the second career category and I am really excitied. I spent a great morning with identical twins half my age who motivated me so much and who liked my ceramics so much that I now have no hesitation in setting up my new venture.
I retired from a career in International Human Resources about 5 years ago and have now found a new satisfaction with my art which was always just below the surface.
Watch this space while i set up my venture add photographs and look for feedback and orders!
