Iris Belshaw: Iris Belshaw has returned to live in her native Northern Ireland following a successful and rewarding career in International Human Resources. Having chosen a slower pace of life she restored a Georgian Rectory, started to grow vegetables and hand reared a flock of Jacob sheep. Having the time available has also allowed her creative side to blossom and working with clay, creating 3D sculptural pieces, has opened up a completely new world. This has taken Iris by surprise as she felt she had retired from an enjoyable career only to find a contrasting fulfilment in a completely new aspect of her life. She loves working with clay and each piece’s uniqueness develops as it is created, there are no rules or decisions made at the outset and as a result each piece has its own personality. To complete the ‘story’, each ceramic piece is finished with a scarf of unbleached sheeps’ wool. Iris has completed a number of commissions, both small and large, indoor and outdoor. Iris has exhibited her work in Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart and Elements Pottery, Downhill and offers her work for sale through a number of local galleries and the Causeway market in Coleraine each month
